How CFL Changed Me

To me, two weeks of winter life may be dull enough to be forgotten in days. However, my half-month experience in CFL Project may never escape from my mind, especially the scenes of the world first tier professors and universities. It’s already April now, but the Rome style library in Harvard, castle like buildings in Yale, and the pleasant weather in Sanford are as fresh as they were, as if I was there yesterday.

I remember when I first step onto the land of the States, everything seems so fun. And then we went to so many great universities, such as MIT, Harvard, Yale, Princeton and so on. The beautiful scene and academic atmosphere not only impressed me, but also somehow changed my mind.

After more than 2 years college life in Peking University, I made up my mind to hunt a job right after graduation, since I do not have much interest in academic research. As a result, I looked for interns and practiced a lot for different kinds of interviews, and at the same time paid little attention to my academic work. I thought that what I want is a job that can offer me passion, instead of something dull enough like collecting data and finishing a paper, daily life of a graduate student. However, after taking lectures from the world first class professors in business schools through CFL program in the United States, I was attracted to what they are talking about, because their lectures are much more interesting than those given by professors from my university. Moreover, the historic campuses shocked me, when I found out that Yale is made up of castles, and there are fireplaces and pianos in its common room while schools are named after famous alumni, exactly the same as Hogwarts, the school of wizardry. Therefore, I changed my mind to pursue higher education in the United States, because I found that academic research on global economy cannot be exactly the contrary of boring, but actually really fun and exciting.

I am really gratitude for CFL program to offer me this opportunity to make it clear what I am truly interested in, and the universities in the States impressed me a lot that universities could be like that, so different from those in China. And in all, it’s very rewarding to take part in this program that not only can I enjoy the pleasant scenes and experience the culture difference, but also think about my dream and life in Yale, one of the most beautiful universities in the world.
