银城处洞庭平原西沿也，其东田畴无垠，西则丘陵连绵。丘陵之间多盆地，乃农人耕居之所也。

　　壬辰三月十二（西历4月2日），余携友驱车十数里，忽越丘而下，蜿蜒一盆地中。

　　是日阳光明丽，春风和煦，四周山岭含黛，深浅错落。田亩青苗楚楚，油菜金黄，桃花绽放。有三两耕牛就食草地，几个农人穿行田垄。农居沿山脚排开，炊烟袅袅，犬声隐隐。此亦山乡常景也。

　　路尽处有一坝耸立，乃水库也。库颇小，仅方圆数里，而隔作东、西两潭，东呈半圆，西显狭长。库周樟松掩山，修竹漫坡，风过处发为浩荡春声，倏忽而止，则复鸟鸣山幽也。库中水清见底，凉冽宜人。水面映山，或平和幽蓝如黛玉，忽波纹涟涟似绿绸。此真远尘嚣之境也。

　　归时过一农家。农妇告之此为白马坝村，乃殷勤延坐，奉以芝麻姜茶。其民风淳朴如此也。
