Some high schools require all students to wear school uniforms. Other high schools permit students to decide what to wear to school. Which of these two school policies do you think is better? Use specific reasons and examples to support your opinion.

I like the policy of high schools that require all students to wear school uniforms.

The main reason is that it shows that all students are equal.  We know that teenagers may like to express their individuality and try to stand out from the others. But it is a big diversion from studies.  

The second reason is that high school students like to compete with each other, so the competition should be over their studies, not dressing up to show off.

The third reason is high school students are easily influenced by anything new or different or by fashion trends. They may not really understand what is right or wrong. So just take a look at some high school girls who wear very short mini skirts even during very cold days. So I asked myself what if she was my daughter; how I would handle this situation.  What would I do as a mother?  The answer is no way I would allow this.  

Not only girls but also boys follow fashion trends.  Have you ever seen some boys dye their hair blue colour and have tattoos on their arm?  I have no idea what is happening these days.  Maybe I am out of touch with the latest fashion trends, but if we can choose to establish a good environment for the students to study, then they will be able to focus more on their studies. The answer is clearly as I mentioned before that it is for all these reasons that high school students should be required to wear uniforms so that they don’t focus on fashion but instead they focus on their studies.
