Gen.3:23-24 Then Jehovah God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to work ground from which he was taken.So He drove the man out,and at the east of the garden of Eden He placed the cherubim and a flaming sword which turned in every direction to guard the way to the tree of life.

耶和华神便打发他出伊甸园去，耕种他所出自之土。于是把那人赶出去了；又在伊甸园的东边，安设基路伯和四面转动发火焰的剑，把手生命树的道路。

God closed the way to the tree of life by means of three items: the cherubim, the flame,and the sword.Cherubum signify God'glory,the flame signifies God's holiness,and the sword for killing indicates God's righteousness. These attributes of God placed requirements on sinful man. Since sinful man was unable to meet these requires,he was not permitted to contact God as the tree of life,untill Christ fulfilled the requirement of God's glory.holiness,and righteousness by His all-inclusive death on the cross to open a new and living way for us to enter the Holy of Holies and partake of the tree of life.

 神用三个凭借封闭生命树的道路：基路伯，火焰和剑。基路伯表征神的荣耀，火焰表征神的圣别，击杀用的剑指明神的公义。神的这些属性把要求加于罪人的身上。既然有罪的人无法达到这些要求，他就不可以解除作生命树的神。直到基督借着他在十字架上包罗万有的死，满足了神的荣耀，圣别和公义的要求，开了一条又新又活的路，人才可以进入至圣所，有份于生命树。
