I have found the advantages as a young girl graduate student here!

 

The first day when I came to see my professor I was not 22 years old, but he said" you are a so young student" and asked all the other students, on the other word, all Ph.D students to take care of me. I did not feel any care during the first period, but now, it really happened.

 

My professor will have one year vacation since May of next year, and he will go to one Univ of China and teach there for one year. I don't know in which Univ he will be. He told me this news and said he was worried about me, about my study and life here, especially when he is out and there will be no one who can give me suggestions. Actually, he really takes care of me. He gave me laptop though it is broken down but he hopes to see me often and gets to know how i am doing. Well, we are like friends more than student and professor. I even told him my dream was to run a drinking bar or to be a housewife. When he heard this he said" i think it is not related with an enginer, but I can give you a lecture if you want to be a housewife!"   I tried to ask another laptop from my professor. I just wanted to have a try. Ok, he promised to give me a desktop because he doesn't have a laptop rightnow. Yes, he really helped me to find a useful computer and gave it to me.

 

Linda has an opposite opinion on the professor because he never asked about her life or study but only focus on the results of her research. Linda is nervous when she reports to the process about the research each time especilly if there are not any valuable results. The professor will be unhappy and has a serious face but say nothing. That makes linda very uncomfortable.

 

One of the great reasons of the difference attitudes of the professor to Linda and me is that Linda is working for him and he should pay for her tuition fees. Instead, I just work for my parents. I think the relationship between boss and employees will be more serious and practical.

 

The landlord of mine is a Chinese man, maybe I should say he is American rightnow. Yesterday was his birthday. Of course i don't know but he invited us to have a taste of his birthday cake. He said, you are the youngest so you decide which part you can take. At the end, he gave me the whole cake since i like chocklite very much. And he lended me his laptop, though only for two weeks. What is more, He promised to buy NBA tickets for me in  the future!

 

In fact, I am the youngest graduate student of the students whom I have known at least, and I looks younger than my age. 

 

That reminds me one words: young is fortune.
