年初的时候，月月还是二年级的学生，老师每周评选一位明星学生，这一周就围绕着他（她）搞些小活动，给些小惊喜。收到老师的邮件，我给月月写了封秘密的信，老师当全班同学的面读给她听。这是第一次正式给女儿写信，很多话说不完。今天在电脑里找文件发现了这封信，放这儿做个记录吧。

Dear Ellie,

I am so excited to write this letter for you. There are many things that come to mind when I think about you growing up. When you were just a little baby, you started to show your interest in exploring the new world. Whenever I could not hear you, I knew I could find you sitting in your little cuddle chair by the window holding a book.  I would open the bedroom door to look for you, and you would be reading a book without noticing me. It painted a beautiful image in my mind. You started going to school at two years and eight months old. You were a little bit nervous at the beginning, but by the second day, you were so happy to say ‘good-bye’ when I dropped you off in the morning. I heard a lot of good things from your preschool teachers; they told me that you were doing so well in every subject. I know you are a very independent girl. You are happy to tell me a lot about your school, and I love to listen to your stories about what you did and what you learned. The most impressive things you tell me are about being a good role model.  You are very nice, kind, caring and humble.  

Daddy and I will always remember the time when we took you to visit Abraham Lincoln’s hometown of Springfield, Illinois. You were about two years old. When we were waiting in the line for a tour, you saw your brother get a drink of water from the drinking fountain.   You really wanted to drink as well, but by that time, the tour was leaving and we had to go.  Then the whole time during the tour, you continually told us that you were thirsty.  Daddy thinks you have a good memory and you do not forget things easily. I think you insist on what you want, and you don’t give up in your heart. You know there are so many things beautiful in the world, and too many things you will want to pursue. My wish is that once you make your goals, you do your best to achieve them. You might get what you want, or you might not get what you pursue, but the process is the most important thing. I hope you enjoy every step you take along the way.

There are still a lot of things Mom could tell about you, but I don’t want this letter to be too long. I just want to tell you that you are such a sweet girl, I am lucky to have you in my life. I am so proud of you, my little darling!
