You may have noticed that PBwiki had some networking issues today that made it hard for you to access your wiki from 1am to 1pm Pacific. We're very sorry to have inconvenienced you. We want to write you to let you know what happened and how we've made changes so it won't happen again.

First, your wiki is now back online at http://xbeta2.pbwiki.com. Your data remained safe at all times - this was not an issue with our servers but with their connection to the Internet.

WHAT HAPPENED
At approximately 1:30am PST on Thursday July 13 (today), the provider of our Internet connection found their Internet connection inexplicably interrupted. It took twelve hours to resolve and repair the problem; many other Internet services besides PBwiki were affected by the outage. During the outage, if you visited your wiki at xbeta2.pbwiki.com, you may not have been able to access your wiki, or you may have received a message explaining the outage. The problem was repaired by 1:00pm PST today.

WHY IT WON'T HAPPEN AGAIN
We're working with our Internet provider to make sure our servers have several different connections to the Internet backbone. We're also going to be putting backup servers in an alternate location so if one location is having difficulties your wikis can stay available.

A FINAL NOTE
We thoroughly, sincerely apologize for today's downtime. For us, it's a matter of pride (and business) to make your wiki available 100% of the time, and today we let you down. To try to make up for it, we've increased your wiki's storage space by 25%. To enable your extra storage, just visit your wiki and check out our new file upload page; it's easier to use than ever, thanks to Nathan's good work. We have a lot of new changes coming down the pipe to improve your experience as well.
