Swingers in China
Introduction
Socialist modern China has undergone a comprehensive sexual revolution in the past two decades. However, there are few high-profile public demonstrations in this revolution. The revolution took place on the quiet. This sexual revolution has a profound influence on the Chinese society.
Dr. Fang Gang, a renowned Chinese sexologist, has looked closely at the various groups active in China's sexual revolution from the perspective of sexual right. He has published more than 50 books, presenting a full picture of China’s sexual revolution.
This book, written by Dr. Fang, is an in-depth study on swingers in China. In China, if three adults have group sex, they could be put into jail. This, however, does not prevent swingers from seeking pleasure. Unlike Western swingers, there is a game going on between Chinese swingers and the social control. The internal operation among swingers is also a complex matter.
The swingers reflect to a certain extent the revolutionary social changes taken place China. The social control is, at least partly, broken; individuals are able to enjoy larger degree of sexual freedom and diverse values are also taking shape.
This book is highly informative and readable. It is rich in content, covering China’s current gender issues, the relationship between politics and sex, public and private power, social control and individual's resistance, sexual orientation, and so forth.
