奥尔布赖特来我家吃饭

 

Mrs. Madelene Albright is one of my heroes.  When she became the first female Secretary of State, I was so inspired.  I said to myself, eh, we women can do that too!  I am sure I am not the only one inspired by her.  She subsequently became the US Ambassador to the United Nations as well and I used to see her a lot around the United Nations area where I live in NYC.She told me that her grand daughter of 12 however, did not think being a female Sec of State was such a big deal.  After all, all she have seen after she was born was female Sec of States in the United States.  Think about this....first was Madelene Albright, then Condoleezza Rice now it is Mrs. Hillary Clinton.... consecutively 3 females!

和奥尔布赖特交谈非常有意思，她似乎知道任何事情！我很享受我们之间的交谈。她告诉我说我的邻居，联合国秘书长的官邸，一开始是由一个很富有的女士Anne Morgan捐给美国的，不过美国竟然拒绝了！（我永远也没法知道原因，不过那可真是个不错的房子啊，和我的房子共享一大片绿草花园），后来那房子就成了联合国作为秘书长的永久住所，当他们不再是秘书长的时候，就得搬出去（和白宫一样）。所以这套房子让我有很多邻居，我住在那里的21年里，经历过德奎利亚尔(Javier Perez de Cuellar),加利（Boutros Boutros Ghali）,科菲安南（Kofi Annan),以及现任的潘基文（Ban Ki- Moon)。不过他们很少在家，几乎总是在全世界飞来飞去。

 

Talking to her is like talking to history.  So interesting. She seems to know everything!  I enjoy our conversation.  She told me that the house that my neighbour, the Secretary General of the United Nations lives in was originally offered as a donation by a very rich lady Anne Morgan to the United States.  The United States turned it down! (I would never know why, it is a really gorgeous house which shares the same garden with my house) and subsequently it is offered to the United Nations as the permanent residence of the Sec. General.  The day he is no longer the Sec General, he has to move out.  (Same as the White House). Since I have lived in this neighborhood for 21 years, I have had 3 sec gen as my neighbors.  They are Javier Perez de Cuellar, Boutros Boutros Ghali, Kofi Annan, and now the Korean Ban Ki- Moon.  They are almost never home in NYC  as they need to travel around the world all the time.

Mrs. Albright was in Shanghai early July to lead a very high level Presidential Delegation to attend the USPavilion US Independence Day celebration.  In this capacity, she represented President Barack Obama. 

 
Almost everyone on that delegation has a title of some sort.  They are all "the honorables"  like "the honorable ambassador Elizabeth Bagley".  One of the best friends of Mrs. Clinton.  She was ambasasdor to Portugal and now Ambassador at Large at the State Department.  A lot of fun people were at the party.After knowing these Sec of States, I have found that they all have common traits. 

 

 1.  they all have  really incredible credentials, highly educated with amazing background. Condelezza Rice plays the piano like a real professional!!! Mrs. Clinton is a lawyer and has always made more money than Bill Clinton! 

 2. they all SPEAK so well.  The use of language is so fantastic.  They are really good communicators.  It just shows that if you want to lead, you better speak well.   They are very good at speaking off the cuff too.  Speaking very well off  the cuff, and movingly, requires a lot of experience. 

 3.  they have such energy!  Following Mrs. Clinton for one day will kill you!  Mrs. Madelene Albright is probably around 80 years old already, but she has the energy of a 40 year old.  Finally, they are so gracious.  they know how to give compliments.  and they are always doing that.  I once gave a Chinese cookbook to Hilary at the White house and she said, Yue-sai, if I eat this food, would I look as good as you?  Mrs. Albright in my house acknowledge as a pioneer in so many ways, and that I have done so much for China.  It shows that they have done a lot of homework and knows all about me before she even comes to my house!
