Last night, we had the rare treat of going to an outstanding
concert hosted by the US Pavilion at the World
Expo It was performed by Herbie
Hancock, one of the World's most influential musicians and a great
jazz pianist/composer.
Being there was most exciting. he performed
with the Theloneous Monk Jazz Ensemble from Washington D.C. and the
soloist was Jazz singer Dee Dee Bridgewater.
Although I never heard of her, but she stunned us all with her
extraordinary voice which sounded like an
instrument. What a night!
After the concert we went back stage to say hello to
Herbie. He looks much younger than his
age. He is 70 years old, just had his birthday,
but he looks at most 55 years old and good looking. His wife was
not there, but Gigi is a good looking German lady.
Today he went early morning to Xian and then go back to the
States. There is a certain contentment and happiness in
him. Besides music, I am sure it is becuase he is
also a buddhist. I shall see him at the Montreux
Jazz Festival this summer.
Sharing some pictures with you.
