为We Are The World的重生动容！

这几天我脑子里一直是这首歌，随时想起来哼的都是We Are The World. 有些事情一旦发生，就能印在你心里一生。We Are The World是最充满爱和力量的歌，它唱到哪里，哪里就有整个世界的关爱！

Once in a while in ones lifetime, something happens that will become part of the rest of your life. Feb. 1 will be one of these days for me.  I was there when they recorded the new version of We are the World, with the top 88 in the world. This 2nd version is again produced by Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie.   Top of the list of singers will be Barbra Streisand, Celine Dion, Tony Bennett,  Harry Connick Jr, Usher, Will.i.am of Black Eye Peas,  Kanye West, Josh Groban, Pink, Toni Braxton, Enrique Englesias...etc the top stars in the world. 

2月1日，著名的We Are The World进行了第二次的录制，这首曾被翻译成“四海一家”的英文歌依然由始创者Quincy Jones和Lionel Richie制作。Lionel Richie最有名的歌是Say You，Say Me，你也会唱吧？此次录制有88位全球最顶尖的歌手，芭芭拉史翠珊，席琳迪翁，托尼贝尼特，帅哥小哈里康尼克，亚瑟小子，黑眼豆豆的Will.i.am，Kanye West, Josh Groban, Pink, Toni Braxton, Enrique Englesias... 都是最顶尖的。

说到We Are The World，不能不说Michael Jackson，他那部分将由Janet Jackson代唱。

There are others that were to be taped somewhere else.  These are really exceptions, such as Janet Jackson who in this version replaces her brother Michael's part in the original.   Fergie of the Black Eye Peas is another.  Some really want to come but cannot possibly make it.  Schedule conflicts.  You can quite imagine the local details behind just assembling this huge cast.  Some were committed but last minute could not make it.  Alicia Keys for one.

Undoubtedly today, this is one of the most famous songs that is known and sung all over the world.  Even in China, I hear Chinese singing it.  Thus is the power of a fantastic piece of music.  It is amazing that a song that was written 25 years ago remain so relevant!    To refresh your memory, these are some of the the words.

The recording event created a media frenzy in the United States.  Days before the taping, no one really knew who were coming to the taping.  there were lots of rumors in the air.   No media was invited to tape the recording so the TV stations could only be outside the studio where they caught the singers coming in the door.  However the whole proceedings in the inside were all captured by 3D cameras and will be edited for future usage. 

整个录制过程没有邀请一家媒体参加，尽管美国媒体都把这当做一件大事，所有的报纸都争相报道，但真到了录制，他们也只是等在门外拍拍明星的进进出出。不过有3D录影机把这一切都录下来了，也许以后会有个大惊喜也不一定。

The day after the taping, there were lots of print media coming in.  amazing coverage again everywhere, in every magazine every newspaper.  in 1985 the last We are the World they raised like 63 millions dollars for  Africa.  The stars that appeared last time like Bruce Springsteen bob Dylan, Smoky Robinson etc were not invited  here today.  The only 2 timers at this recording were Lionel Ritche and Quincy Jones, who are the producers.  This whole song will be unveiled in the opening ceremonies of the Winter Olympics on Feb 12 on NBC.  Every penny that comes in will be donated to the Haiti Earth Quake relief.  I am sure it will raise a lot of money for Haiti. 
Lots of things happened after this also.  The Spanish under Gloria Estafan wants to do a version in spanish.  Of course everyone from Julio Iglesias, j Lo, Marc Anthony will be on this.
I wish we could do one in Chinese!

1985年第一次录制这首歌，为非洲筹集到了6千3百万美元，而这次，是为了海地而歌唱！听着他们一遍一遍的排练，听着犹如天籁的和声，相信没有人不为之动容。而大家则可以在马上就开幕的冬奥会上听见这首歌！

The  most touching moment?  when I heard the song sung by everyone in a big chorus. It was very impressive and it was moving. I was tearing up so many times. I can imagine how Wyclef and my Haitian friends must be feeling.

希望大家在冬奥会开幕式演唱这首歌时，都给我们身处的地球一个祝福！从海地地震这个极度悲痛的不幸发生以来，我看到了大到国家, 比如我的两个家:中国,美国等，小到企业，到各个慈善机构，再到个人:包括自己和身边的朋友，都在尽自己所能支援灾区,奉献爱心.这些义举不就是美的最好体现吗?
 
最近和联合国全球契约组织的一个朋友聊天得知, 联合国最新建立了一个促成企业界与联合国合作的门户网站: business.un.org. 海地地震灾害发生后，全世界的许多公司和个人利用这个网站通过联合国机构向海地灾区提供现金和实物捐赠，其中包括药物，后勤支援，水和食物， 及通讯设备等等.我也在联系我的朋友,号召大家齐力援助灾民!

I have a lot of Haitian friends in the United States.  One of the most famous is Wyclef , the great musician.  At the taping of We are the World, I saw him in tears all night long because he was so moved that the entire music industry,  led by Quincy Jones and Lionel Ritchie plus some 88 great musicians all joined in to record the 2nd version of We are the World, for his home land's disaster relief fund.  The first time 25 years ago, this song with 45 top musicians of those days, made 63 million dollars for Ethopia.  This one, I think will probably double that.  Everyone is really generous.  Indeed, we are the World!
