Tonight I went to Broadway to see a play called "three
days of Rain"  it was a play about a screwed up
family.  It was jammed packed and the tickets were
over 250 dollars each.
why? 

Becuase Julia Roberts was the female lead, the
only female in a cast of 3 people.  It was no good.
And she was not good.  If you are in NYC, do not waste
your time and money. But being Julia, she was adored
you know.  There  were lots of poeple outside the
theatre waiting for her to come out of the theatre
just to catch a glimpse of her.

ON stage live is very different from being in the
movies. In movies You can do a lot of takes and
retakes,as many as you wish.  In a play, you are what
you are.  that is the reason why it takes so much to
be on Broadway!

 

Fantastic actors like Ralph Fiennes
(the english patient, White Countess) can be in the
movies and on stage live becuase they are really
incredibly well trained actors, in the English
tradition.

One thing about NYC I love so much...there are so many
cultural choices.  You know, Ralph Fiennes is on
broadway for the next 3 months as well.  His play is
called Faith Healer.  I shall go to see it and give
you a report.
