(2006-02-22 11:26:23)
Yesterday an american friend of mine from nyc told me that she sent a gift to a high power friend of mine who is Chinese.  She was very upset and concered that she did not get a letter of acknowledgment or thanks. She asked me if she should call and ask if my Chinese
friend received her gift.

This is a lesson in good etiquette. in international etiquette, one MUST EITHER CALL or WRITE to thank for a gift.  It is the height of bad taste if you do not.
