One weekend in July, Jane and her husband, Tom, had driven three hours to camp overnight by a lake in the forest. Unfortunately, on the way an unpleasant subject came up and they started to quarrel. By the time they reached the lake, Jane was so angry that she said to Tom, "I'm going to find a better spot for us to camp" and walked away.
With no path to follow, Jane just walked on for quite a long time. After she had climbed to a high place, she turned around, hoping to see the lake. To her surprise, she saw nothing but forest and, far beyond, a snowcapped mountain top. She suddenly realized that she was lost.
"Tom!" she cried. "Help!"
No reply. If only she had not left her mobile phone in that bag with Tom. Jane kept moving, but the farther she walked, the more confused she became. As night was beginning to fall, Jane was so tired that she had to stop for the night. Lying awake in the dark, Jane wanted very much to be with Tom and her family. She wanted to hold him and tell him how much she loved him.
Jane rose at the break of day, hungry and thirsty. She could hear water trickling(滴落) somewhere at a distance. Quickly she followed the sound to a stream. To her great joy, she also saw some berry bushes. She drank and ate a few berries. Never in her life had she tasted anything better. Feeling stronger now, Jane began to walk along the stream and hope it would lead her to the lake.
As she picked her way carefully along the stream, Jane heard a helicopter. Is that for me? Unfortunately, the trees made it impossible for people to see her from above. A few minutes later, another helicopter flew overhead. Jane took off her yellow blouse, thinking that she should go to an open area and flag them if they came back again.

Jane quickened her steps along the stream and searched for a larger open area eagerly. Hearing the sound of a helicopter coming near, she tiptoed her feet, flagged her yellow blouse hard, crying out, “Hi, here I am. Is that Tom?” All her efforts were in vain. The helicopter circled there a few minutes and then flew away. But she was sure it was Tom that came for her and he would come back again.
Suddenly an idea hit her. She tore her yellow blouse into pieces, and soon a long yellow belt came into being. After that, she struggled to break a long branch off a tree, and tied the belt to it. She held her produce towards the stream. To her great joy, the helicopter came nearer again. She waved the long pole, with her yellow belt zig-zagged high in the sky. The helicopter came down and Tom came out. Jane ran to him, “I love you”. “Me too.” They hugged tightly. (164W)闫玉芹

But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again. Jane felt increasingly disappointed and hopeless thoroughly. What’s worse, as a result of hunger, Jane got sick but insisted walking along the lake. After drinking much water, Jane sat by the stream, bursting into tears. “Tom, where are you? I am cold, hold me in your arms, Yes? Jane said sadly to the air. “I am dying, Tom, you know?” Jane whispered to herself. However, nothing responded to Jane but leaves bowling in the wind. It occurred to Jane that the yellow blouse may helped her out. Jane laid the yellow blouse on the surface of the stream, floating slowly through the downs. Jane had no strength and energy to go on walking, desiring that Tom may find his yellow blouse, recognize the direction and hunt for her. Jane leaned a tree, exhausted and hungry, stared at the blue sky for a while and closed her eyes. “Tom, you must find me.”
It was daybreak when Jane woke up. She stood hard against the tree and heard some voice at a distance. “Tom? Tom!” Jane yelled hopefully. To her great joy, Tom surprisingly appeared. It was unbelievable for Jane that Tom found her blouse and recognized the direction. The couple hugged each other and kissed sweetly. (200W)葛 鑫

But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark. Jane was walking aimlessly when she heard something strange at a distance. Curiously, she approached the creature that was uttering. To her surprise, it was a lovely squirrel! But it was obvious that the squirrel was hurt in its leg because it just stared at Jane with a frightened look rather than run away. Jane loved raising pets as well as reading books about animals. Her husband Tom had ever bought her a book that covered how to deal with common injuries on animals, as a result of which, she knew how to treat the little squirrel. Having collected the herb the squirrel needed, she began bandaging it with her yellow blouse. Meanwhile, Many good memories of their happy life flooded Jane. Tired and hungry, Jane fell asleep gradually, something of unconsciousness.
It was daybreak when Jane woke up.
As a matter of fact, she was waken up by
the sound of the helicopter and the cry of Tom. How? Aha,
the squirrel rescued by her last night had climbed up a tall
tree near her with her yellow blouse! What was it that saved Jane
from the forest? The squirrel? the love in her heart? Perhaps the
books she had ever
read?

But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again. To make matters worse, it began to rain slightly. Jane had to feel her way aiming to find a shelter. Hardly had she climbed over a hilltop when she saw an oak with huge shade. Jane fastened her steps and wrapped herself tight with her yellow blouse. Under the oak, she sat against the root, lost in deep thought again. However, unlike the night before, she was not feeling lonely and helpless any more, for she knew Tom was trying to find her by all means. Sweet memories with her husband accompanied her into a sound sleep.
It was daybreak when Jane woke up. After completely refreshing herself with a stretch, she began to think over solutions to making herself easy to find. She raised her head when it occurred to her that she could make use of the oak. It took Jane nearly two hours to pick the branches and make a big “SOS”. With hardly any energy, she lay nearby. It was not until noon when to her great joy there came the sound of a helicopter at a distance. The plane touched down softly and down stepped her love, Tom. (187w)玄兆娟

Again feeling disappointed, Jane walked lonely. In her mind many happy and unforgettable scenes presented themselves before her although she knew all these might probably become past. However, thinking of these, again she was full of energy as well as strength. She must believe in herself. Most important, she would no longer quarrel with Tom, who would accompany her all her life. Full of joy and courage, she strived forward, singing. The song was sweet and beautiful. It echoed for miles in the valley.
Just at the same time, she heard a sound
at a distance, the kind that she was so familiar with. She
was excited. She was sure that it was her husband, Tom. She
quickened her steps and walked through the forest, across the
stream, tiredness and sadness gone. She was more than happy
to see her husband. She climbed over thorns which stuck her tender
finger, full of blood. But it was worth it. It was nearer and
nearer, finally she made it to the spot where the song was sung.
She cried with excitement. It was her husband, Tom, who was also
very excited and tears flowed down his cheeks. They hugged and
kissed until the helper came.

But no more helicopters came and it was dark again. After drinking and eating some berries by the stream, Jane looked for a place to have a rest to recover her strength. Staring at the dark sky with twinkle stars and bright moon, Jane thought a lot about the quarrel between her and Tom. Maybe it was my fault, and I shouldn’t be that capricious, she thought.
It was daybreak when Jane woke up. While thinking about what to do next, suddenly Jane heard a voice,“Jane, Jane, where are you”. Jane recognized it at once. ” Tom, it is Tom!!!” To her great joy and excitement, Jane replied with all her strength. “Tom, Tom, I am here!” Later, Jane learned that Tom looked for Jane with a rescue team in two helicopters, but in vain. Then he decided to look for her by walking. They said sorry to each other and lived a happy life. (139W)杨早

But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again. It was obvious that the longer she stayed here, the closer death was. Something had to be done. Jane thought hard, trying to recall the survival skills she had learned. Oh, she remembered signals sent out regularly three times stand for asking for help. Fortunately, she could whistle. So she whistled and whistled until she lost consciousness due to hunger, thirst and cold.
It was day break when Jane woke up.
To her great joy, she found herself
lying in a wooden house. Though poorly furnished, it was warm and
tidy. She raised herself and went outside, where she saw a young
man. No doubt that the man saved her. No only that, the man told
her that he could lead her back to the lake. Jane was so
excited! She seemed to see Tom smiling to her at a
distance……and she never would walk away again whatever
happened!

But no more helicopters came and it was getting dark again.Full of fear, hopelessness, and desperation, Jane climbed up a tree, she regretted to have been so self-willed and wondered what Tom was doing. Was he worried about her? Was he looking for her? She fell asleep and in her dream she was in her family again, laughing and enjoying a large meal.
It was day break when Jane woke
up. She moved her way down the stream,
hoping to find the lake. But instead of the lake there
appeared a small village which seemed cut off from the outside
world. She told the villagers what she wanted to do. To her
great joy, someone offered to lead her back there. After a
large meal and enough rest, they set off for the lake. Meanwhile,
Tom was waiting for her there, he had called the police. He didn’t
leave because he was afraid that Jane wouldn’t find him if she came
back.
