Many students have the feeling that their
life has changed a lot after they entered college. That is not
strange. College life is quite different from high school life.
The most
obvious difference between college life and high school life is in
study. In high school, teachers told us all details to solve a
problem and we just worked according to what teachers had said.
However, at college, teachers just explain basic theories and we
need to find good approaches to problems by ourselves. We should
depend on ourselves to study at college, while teachers and parents
could urge us to study and tutor us when we studied in high
school.
Nevertheless, college life differs from high school life not only
in study but also in many other aspects. High school is just a
school, but college is like a small society. It was easy to get
along with classmates in high school because we just studied but
did not live together, while at college we live in dormitory
together with other students. Therefore, it is a tough task to keep
a good relationship with classmates and
roommates. Furthermore, we must learn how to manage our
life at college, rather than only studying. We have to take care of
ourselves at college since our parents do not live with
us.
Obviously, it is not easy to adapt to college life. However, if we
failed to get used to the new life, we cannot study well at
college. To adapt to college life, we should take an active part in
various activities and social communication. We also need to form
good study habits and healthy life style.
In a
word, as long as we realize the differences between college life
and high school life, and try our best to be independent and
sociable, these differences will not be insuperable
obstacles.
