Reader’s Digest launches Puzhi magazine in China

The Shanghai Press and Publishing Development Company and The Reader’s Digest Association, Inc, global publisher and marketer of books, magazines, music and video, launched Puzhi magazine on 8 January 2008 across China.

Puzhi will be published by Puzhi Magazine Incorporated, a wholly owned enterprise of the Shanghai Press and Publishing Development Company, under a Trademark and Copyright License Agreement with The Reader’s Digest Association, Inc of the US.

Our partnership and cooperation will give readers in China a window on the world and at the same time will help to promote Chinese culture as a window on China to the rest of the world,” said Wang You-Bu, general manager of The Shanghai Press and Publishing Development Company and editor-in-chief of Puzhi.

We are extremely excited about the partnership, which taps the synergies and strengths of both corporations with a commitment to produce a publication of supreme quality content and compelling reading, which will ultimately appeal to the consumers in China,” said Rosemarie Wallace, regional managing director of Reader’s Digest Asia.

“Our consumer research was tremendously encouraging, reflecting a need and desire of a high quality magazine by families in China.”

As a window on the world, Puzhi will feature a rich and stimulating variety of compelling, insightful, relevant articles on everything from science, health and medicine to arts, money management and more. It will have the same distinct high editorial quality of international publications in terms of credible, trusted and easy-to-read information that will appeal to the urbanites and families in China.

Puzhi will be available at street kiosks, convenience stores, subways, foreign and local book stores and airports as well as by subscription. It will retail at RMB12 (1.13) and a yearly subscription price of RMB120 (11.30).
