The Shanghai Press and Publishing Development
Company and The Reader’s Digest Association, Inc, global publisher
and marketer of books, magazines, music and video, launched Puzhi
magazine on 8 January 2008 across
China.
Puzhi will be published by Puzhi
Magazine Incorporated, a wholly owned enterprise of the Shanghai
Press and Publishing Development Company, under a Trademark and
Copyright License Agreement with The Reader’s Digest Association,
Inc of the US.
“Our
partnership and cooperation will give readers in China a window on
the world and at the same time will help to promote Chinese culture
as a window on China to the rest of the world,” said Wang You-Bu,
general manager of The Shanghai Press and Publishing Development
Company and editor-in-chief of
Puzhi.
“We are
extremely excited about the partnership, which taps the synergies
and strengths of both corporations with a commitment to produce a
publication of supreme quality content and compelling reading,
which will ultimately appeal to the consumers in China,” said
Rosemarie Wallace, regional managing director of Reader’s Digest
Asia.

the world, Puzhi will feature a rich and stimulating variety of
compelling, insightful, relevant articles on everything from
science, health and medicine to arts, money management and more. It
will have the same distinct high editorial quality of international
publications in terms of credible, trusted and easy-to-read
information that will appeal to the urbanites and families in
China.
Puzhi will be
available at street kiosks, convenience stores, subways, foreign
and local book stores and airports as well as by subscription. It
will retail at RMB12 (1.13) and a yearly subscription price of
RMB120 (11.30).

Discovery links with
Reader’s Digest to launch Discovery Channel
Magazine
The inaugural issue is set to hit newsstands on February 22. The
magazine will initially be available in China, Hong Kong,
Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore,
Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. With the Discovery Channel Magazine,
people can now literally take Discovery Channel with them wherever
they
go.
Published bimonthly, the Discovery Channel Magazine promises to be
an enjoyable read for the whole family, featuring engaging content
that is the hallmark of Discovery Channel, the world’s most
distributed television brand. Readers can look forward to concise,
engaging articles and stunning images encompassing a wide range of
topics – from demystifying science and technology and decoding
animal behaviour to unraveling history and exploring ancient

inspire the very joy of Discovery.
The Discovery
Channel Magazine will retail in Singapore for S$7.90, in Malaysia
for RM$14.90, Philippines for PHP250, in Hong Kong HKD45, in Taiwan
TWD180, in Thailand THB190, in Japan JPY987 and Korea KRW9,000.

The Discovery

team of experienced writers and designers have been assembled to
work on the new magazine, which will be based in Singapore.
Editor-in-chief of the English edition of Reader's Digest in Asia,
Jim Plouffe, will also oversee the Discovery Channel
Magazine.
