    长白山地下森林是游览长白山北坡景区的最后一站，很多人因为时间关系，会放弃这里，但这其实是北坡景区中除天池以外的精华之处。地下森林为火山口森林，谷底南北长约3公里，是长白山海拔最低的地区。走入地下森林，铺就整齐的木栈道在常年温润的环境中有些打滑，踏着厚实的苔藓，翻过横在面前的倒木，领略感受原始森林古朴的气息，呼吸着高含水分湿润清新的空气，让人心旷神怡。

    关于地下森林的成因，众说不一，至今尚难定论。但有一说颇近情理：经过喷发后，火山口的内壁岩石，被长期风化剥蚀，早与火山灰等物质一起变为肥沃的土壤，而衔着各种植物种子飞越火山口的群鸟，则成为天灰播种者，如此天长地久，火山口的内壁上，终于长满了树，形成了森林。由于其环境的特殊性，它不仅成为美妙的风景区，而且成为中外地理学家、历史学家、生物学家理想的科研基地。

    漫步地下森林，抬头仰望高大参天的绿树，脚下流淌着潺潺的小溪水，仿佛进入了纳尼亚般的魔幻世界。古堡，驯鹿，会说话的海獭，还有恶狠狠的豺狼，施魔法的女巫，然后拥有了神奇的武器和无坚不摧的力量，点石成金，团结起来将恶魔打败，拯救了森林里勤劳善良的精灵们，动物王国重新过上了快乐又开心的生活。
