“The right to happiness” and “the right to the pursuit of happiness” are two different concepts. “The right to happiness” is the right to 100% guaranteed happiness no matter what you do and where you are. This is a big pie in the sky. All you need do is to wait for its falling upon your head. However, you can only find such luck in a utopia.
Quite different from “the right to happiness”, “the right to the pursuit of happiness” points out an approach for you to search for happiness in adventure, in fire and water, and in great effort.
Rights always have boundaries. For example, one should not try to pursue happiness by means that break the social orders, such as drug abuse and violence. Therefore, one’s pursuit of happiness is regulated by law, social customs and shared moral values.
