等待等待再等待，等断人肠子的加拿大W1签证

我是南京一大学的国关博士生，去年7月和今年3月获加拿大滑铁卢大学访学邀请，但发现加拿大驻沪总领事馆W1类型的签证实在难以等到。

2012年七月前，加拿大驻沪总领事馆W1类型签证申请的处理时间为两周。去年7月中旬实行新的签证规定后，申请处理时间为“至少两个月”，我在递交申请后50天左右拿到签证，错过了8月份去滑铁卢大学的访学机会。我承认此次未能成行的责任在我本人。

今年3月21日再获滑铁卢大学邀请于6月份前往访学，3月21日领事馆方通知说已收到我的签证申请，但直到近70天后的今天，我仍然没有得到签证结果。

昨天就此事通过上海签证服务中心，今天得到的电子邮件回复为“仍在处理中（you visa application is still in processing ）”。

在此我建议加拿大驻沪总领事馆：请考虑增加人手加快申请处理速度，或者（从我个人的角度来看）干脆不开放W1类型签证。

同时，作为一位普通的中国公民，我宣告：我尊重任何国家及其公民的平等权利，珍视与一切以平等态度待我的任何国家及其公民的友谊，但一个自信的人不会仰任何国家、任何人的鼻息。

SOS: Too Long A Waiting For Visa Approval

To whom it may concern,

My name is XXX, a former newspaper journalist and editor and now a PhD candidate of International Relations of Nanjing University. I have been invited to have a month of academic exchanges in the University of Waterloo, Canada in June,2013. I handed in my application for a W1 visa to Shanghai Consulate on March 21 and was planning to leave for UW in early June, yet I still haven't got the result of the application.

During my stay in UW, I will give a lecture on China’s international news reporting, interview with several History professors of UW, and do some research on my Doctoral thesis. I think those will be so helpful exchanges for both my Canadian colleagues and me.

My application number is xxx, and passport number is xxx. I hope that the application can be dealt with as soon as possible and I myself be informed of the result at the earliest moment. For if I can get the visa, I still have to make quite some preparations for the visit.
