Don't judge a book by its cover

    “Don't judge a book by its cover.” means "Don't judge a person by his/her appearance." For example, when we get a book, we can't tell whether it's good or bad at first glance. We should look through it at first to know whether it's useful to us or not. If we find something helpful or something interesting in it, we should read it more carefully then.

    What is the most important for us is to know how to choose and use a book. The same is true with a person. When we meet a person for the first  time, we can't decide to make friends with him or her just by whether he or she is beautiful or ugly. We are also supposed to learn more about him or her.

    In a word, when we judge whether a person or a thing is good or not, not only will we pay attention to their appearance but also we should attach more importance to their value.
