颜伯龙(1898─1954年)满族，正黄旗，北京人。名云霖，字伯龙（以字行），号长白布衣，所居椿草堂。著名的花鸟画家，工山水、人物、翎毛、走兽。名云程，字云霖，号长白布衣。旧时祖上为大金国完颜氏，后又在清朝世袭镶蓝旗佐领之职，辛亥革命清朝覆灭，一夜间沦为布衣，又因颜先生祖籍长白，故称“长白布衣”。

颜伯龙早年毕业于北京师范学校，继入北京艺术专门学校国画系，(颜伯龙初时就读北平艺专，师从齐白石、陈半丁、陈师曾、王梦白等名师，为王梦白入室弟子。文学上师从林琴南。与李苦禅、汪慎生、王雪涛、邱石冥皆为同窗之友。毕业后被聘为北京师范学校及艺术专门学校国画教师，中国画学研究会评议委员。

常言道“西画有人物、静物、翎毛诸种，形象真实，但只是标本画，而配景极少。或于风景画中偶然出现花鸟而已”。颜伯龙先生深知国画不同于西画，以已之所长，对花鸟画深究独创，为使国画艺术弘扬于世界而尽自己之职责。除讲课授徒之外，并观摹历代名迹，深谙古法，教学相长，于国画中之山水、人物、花鸟、走兽各有所长。在不断拟古的过程中，逐渐做到兼收并蓄，集宋、元、明、清历代花鸟画法之大成，亦在不断融入自己的丹青意趣，终成一代花鸟大家，形成了颜氏“兼工代写”的独特花鸟画法。
