《信南山》  The Ranging Southern Hill 

信彼南山，    The southern hill is endlessly ranged.

维禹甸之。    Around it territories King Yu arranged.

畇畇原隰，    Flat and neat is the vast open country.

曾孙田之。    His offspring opens fields for cultivations.

我疆我理，    Each cuts canals and sets his boundary. 

南东其亩。    Crisscrossed fields spread in all directions.

上天同云。    Cloudy is the winter day.

雨雪雰雰，    Snow flakes fly and sway,

益之以霡霂。  With a drizzling rain fine

既优既渥，    There's a rich water supply.

既霑既足。    It moistens and irigate the land.

生我百谷。    Lushly grows our crops grand.

疆埸翼翼，    The boundaries are in apple-pie order.

黍稷彧彧。    Sturdy are the broomcorn and millets.

曾孙之穑，    The descendant reaps harvest bumper.

以为酒食。    With them he makes food and spirits

畀我尸宾，    To treat the dead and his guests,

寿考万年。    Hoping he'd get what he requests.

中田有庐，    Amid the fields stand the huts.

疆埸有瓜。    Along the ridges grow melons and nuts.

是剥是菹，    The harvest is sliced for pickles

献之皇祖。    To sacrifice to our forebears,the best.

曾孙寿考，    The grandson enjoys a life without wrinkles.

受天之祜。    By the Heavens all these are blessed.

祭以清酒，    On the Altar we offer pure liquors

从以骍牡，    and a bull as red as a red date,

享于祖考。    Before our roots’ catafalques.

执其鸾刀，    The bull we skin and eviscerate

以启其毛，    By a knife with a bell swinging about.

取其血膋。    The blood and fat are taken out.

是烝是享，    Winter sacrificial offerings we present.

苾苾芬芬。    The offerings give off a fragrant scent.

祀事孔明，    The solemn ceremony is in perfect order.

先祖是皇。    Our ancestors come to feast fain.

报以介福。    We wish they reward us a great honor:

万寿无疆。    Longevity and joy we would retain.

终南山山势绵延不断，
这里是大禹所辟地盘。
成片的原野平展整齐，
后代子孙们在此垦田。
划分地界又开掘沟渠，
田陇纵横向四方伸展。

冬日的阴云密布天上，
那雪花坠落纷纷扬扬。
再加上细雨溟溟濛濛，
那水分如此丰沛足量，
滋润大地并霑溉四方，
让我们庄稼蓬勃生长。

田地的疆界齐齐整整，
小米高粱多茁壮茂盛。
子孙们如今获得丰收，
酒食用谷物制作而成。
可奉献神尸款待宾朋，
愿神灵保佑赐我长生。

大田中间有居住房屋，
田埂边长着瓜果菜蔬。
削皮切块腌渍成咸菜，
去奉献给伟大的先祖。
他们的后代福寿无疆，
都是依赖上天的佑护。

祭坛上满杯清酒倾倒，
再供奉公牛色红如枣，
先祖灵前将祭品献好。
操起缀有金铃的鸾刀，
剥开牺牲公牛的皮毛，
取出它的鲜血和脂膏。

于是进行冬祭献祭品，
它们散发出阵阵芳馨。
仪式庄重而有条不紊，
列祖列宗们欣然驾临。
愿赐以宏福万寿无疆，
以此回报子孙的孝心。
