OBITUARY訃告:
SALT LAKE CITY " Margaret Louise Williams Rothey, 83, passed away
Sunday, April 8, 2001 in Salt Lake City from causes incident to
age. She was born September 16, 1917 in Upper Penns Neck, New
Jersey to Melvin Meredith Williams and Jesse Lindsay Parks
MacNicol.
She married Albert Godfrey Rothey in 1936. They were later divorced. They had six children, Randolph Gordon of NY; Kenneth Lee of Houston, TX; Alan Scott of Findlay, OH; Albert Thomas of Ogden, Utah; Pamela Jones of Salt Lake City; and Richard Mark of South Carolina.
Mom was a hard worker who gave her all for her children. She was a woman of high principles who served faithfully in many callings in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
She was employed at Defense Depot Ogden and Hill Air Force Base until she took a medical retirement in 1970.
Mom was an outstanding cook and did some of her best work in the kitchen. She could always make us happy with her awesome cinnamon rolls. With six children there were many enjoyed meals from her skillful hands. She didn (TM)t want to move to a nursing home because she wanted to cook for herself to make sure it was exactly as she liked it.
Learning was an important part of Mom (TM)s life. She was valedictorian of her high school, Elizabeth PA High School and was a beautiful young woman. She studied Latin and constantly challenged her children with vocabulary, literature and language. “Get an education” was her watchword.
Sewing was one of her loves and she was an expert with materials. Her children and grandchildren enjoyed her many wonderful sewing creations, especially the soft pajamas and nightgowns.
Mom overcame many obstacles in life, her father passed away when she was five years old, she overcame cancer in her thirties, and was very ill in her fifties, enduring numerous operations. She suffered much, but endured it well, like the Prophet Job.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, and step-brother. She is survived by her sister, Mildred Leckman of Payson, Utah.
Her family and loved ones will be eternally grateful for all her words of admonition and encouragement. Well done, Mom, thou good and faithful servant.
