我出生在距黄河只几十公里的城市，可以说在黄河边长大。第一次过黄河还要过轮渡，当时正发大水，黄黄的河水一眼望不到另一边，已快要有堤坝高，以后再也未见过如此宽的黄河水和如此高的水位，往往也就100多米宽，窄窄的细流流淌在几公里宽的大坝间是如此不相称，很奇怪如此多的水都哪里去了。
在北方旅行，不经意就会遇到黄河，都特意要看看，说不清为什么。过去的旅行，看过兰州、包头、府谷、壶口、禹门、风陵渡、东阿、滨州等地的黄河，但因为是胶片照片，难以放到网上，这次旅行则拍了青海循化、甘肃玛曲、靖远、宁夏中宁、中卫、青铜峡、陕西佳县、吴堡、山西碛口、河南三门峡、小浪底、山东东明的黄河，集中在一起而成为个专题。因是在旅途中匆匆拍摄，没有特意选择天气状况和拍照时间，所以常会因雾气等原因而影响效果，只有在中卫是等着拍黄河落日，但太阳落山时仍然光线刺眼，圆圆的太阳也未能拍到。
