广东的生活习俗与北方有太多不同，大多与气候、环境和族群传统有关，最有特色的可算过年时的花市。北方已是冰天雪地，而珠三角却温暖如春，百花在花农的培育下盛开，喜迎新春。

深圳市的每个区都有自己的花市，最大的在罗湖区的爱国路，太远，今天去的是南山区的花市。

入乡随俗，虽然深圳是外来人口为主的城市，但大多都有了逛花市的习惯，很是热闹。政府部门还专门发给三轮车以花市的牌照，方便搬运颇有重量的大盆花。

广东人过年一般都要买盆栽的桔子，称为年桔，所以花市最多的就是它们。过去的年桔都只供观赏，并不好吃，现在的新品种也可以吃了，但放在门口往往会被人摘来吃。盆栽年桔只是过年时看，一般是过完年就当垃圾扔掉了，买来的很难长期养活。

这种果子很诱人，金黄金黄的，被认为预示发财，很受欢迎。盆里那么密集是人工绑在一起的，挂在上面的才是原来的样子，果子间距很大的。

今年最具特色的似乎是蝴蝶兰，往年很少看到，今年都有专门档口，似乎价格不菲。

这种花很好看，不知真假，要动手去摸。“只许看不许摸”是不行的，那样无法判断，能摸得才知道是真的，百合。

花市不仅卖花，还有其他的，如瓷器、鸟等，虽然档口不多。

因为是过年，所以灯笼、春联等过年的物品也少不了，还有现场写春联的，这与北方差别不大。
