地点状语和条件状语

一、地点状语

1、副词作地点状语

副词abroad, anywhere, downstairs, everywhere, here, home, indoors, inside, nowhere, outdoors, outside, overseas, there, sideway, somewhere, upstairs, northwards, backwards, downwards, etc.在英语句子中常作地点状语，例如：

What on earth are you doing there? 你们在那儿到底在干什么？

There was a big refrigerator upstairs. 当时楼上有一个大冰箱。

He will have his further education abroad next year. 明年他将去国外进修。

2、  介词短语作地点状语

我们常用across, above, against, among, around, at, between, beyond, from, in, into, on, opposite, over, to, under, etc.介词短语作地点状语，如：

The children stood all around him as he sat down. 他坐下时孩子们都站在他的周围。

They are on business in Shanghai. 他们在上海出差。

Who had picnics by the seaside yesterday? 昨天我们在海边野炊了。

He leaned against the wall, looking down. 他靠着墙站着，低着头。

3、词组作地点状语

Here and there, back and forth, up and down, front and rear, a long way off, a distance of, far away, a hundred paces from, south of, etc.

Then they would be exposed to attacks front and rear. 那样他们就会腹背受敌。

He looked the stranger up and down. 他上下打量着那位陌生人。

There is a well five hundred paces from here. 离这儿一百步的地方有一口水井。

The factory lies north of the town. 工厂位于城北。

4、从句作地点状语

引导地点状语从句的连词常用where, wherever, no matter where, etc例如：

Put the boxes where they were. 把盒子放在原处。

Where there is a will, there is a way. 有志者事竟成。

You must be strict with yourself wherever you are. 无论你在哪儿，都要对自己严格要求。

Helicopters can land no matter where a hard level ground exists. 直升飞机可降落在任何平整的硬地面。

Go where you like. 想去哪儿你就去哪儿。

    二、条件状语

1、介词短语作条件状语

In case of fire, dial the number 110. 万一发生火灾，就拨打110。

Without his help, we couldn’t succeed. 如果没有他的帮助，我们就不会成功。

But for her timely information, we might have missed the chance. 要不是她及时通知，我们或许会失去那次机会。

2、  分词短语作条件状语

Taken in time, the medicine will be effective. 如果及时服用，这种药就会起作用。

Carrying the tickets in your pockets, you won’t lose them. 把票装在口袋里，就不会丢掉。

3、独立结构作状语

Time permitting, we’ll have a short break by the river. 如果时间允许，我们就在河边休息一下。

All things considered, I think we should trust them. 从各方面考虑，我认为我们应该相信他们。

3、  从句作条件状语

我们常用if, supposing (问句), supposed, unless; in case, on condition that, provided that, so far as, so long as, etc.引导条件状语从句，如：

If you don’t mind, I’ll turn off the TV set.如果你不介意，我就把电视关了。

I’m happy as long as you are happy. 只要你高兴我就高兴。

Suppose/Supposing we cannot get the necessary equipment,what shall we do?假设我们弄不到必要的设备，那我们怎么办？

We’ll let you use the room on condition that (provided) you keep it clean and tidy. 如果你们能保持房间清洁整齐，我就会让你们使用这个房间。

Unless bad weather stops me, I jog in the park every day. 除非天气作梗，我每天都在公园里慢跑。
