9月22日起，太阳开始进入天秤宫，历时一个黄道月。天秤在塔罗牌上的对应，是“公平”。除此之外，天秤还象征着“支配”与“和谐”。它意味着罪犯受到“和谐”的法律“支配”；或是意味着，夫妻在婚姻“支配”下“和谐”的生活。

所以说，公平、支配、和谐，是天秤的基本含义。而从西方神话故事中，我们可以了解到更多的相关典故：

希腊的公平女神：西弥斯和阿斯特来亚  

古希腊神话中有两位代表公平的女神，分别是西弥斯(Themis)和她的女儿阿斯特米亚(Astraea)。西弥斯，是主管神界的公平女神，是天空之神优利纳斯(Uranus)和他的妻子(也是他的母亲)大地女神盖亚(Gaea)的后代。  

在宙斯肃清旧的万神殿的时候，西弥斯是宙斯的参谋。在神话的描绘中，西弥斯一手持“公平之天平”，另一手持一把剑。她的双眼总是闭合的，意味着她在做出决定时的依据，全凭心中的公平，不会受到现实的干扰。  

后来，西弥斯与宙斯结合，生下女儿阿斯特米亚。阿斯特米亚一词的意思是“美丽星空中的纯洁处女”。阿斯特米亚后来成为了主管人界的公平女神，负责解决有关政治和社会的各种事务。在神话描绘中，阿斯特米亚的双耳用谷物装饰，也是手持一把剑，但却没有“公平之天平”，但手中有一架称量谷物的秤。  

古诗人Hessiod曾经在诗中将阿斯特米亚描绘成为“公平之处女”。她在宙斯的身边，将人间男子心中的邪恶向她的父亲慢慢倾诉。她的保护者，是谷神得墨忒耳(Demeter)。   

维纳斯与天秤宫的关系

维纳斯(Venus)象征着天空中的金星。而占星学家认为，金星是主管天秤宫的行星，象征着公平的平衡。而在塔罗牌中，金星的对应牌是“女皇”，象征着女性的生育。

天秤宫的由来 

在古代占星学中，黄道中是不存在天秤宫的。处女宫之后就是天蝎宫，这也是为什么阿斯特米亚在希腊神话中，被尊为主管处女宫的女神，而不是天秤宫的女神的原因。

后来，现代占星家将原来天蝎宫中被认为是“天蝎之爪”的那一部分星区单独划分出来。于是，这一部分星区也就成为了主管公平的的天秤宫。

天秤宫属于气(air),是古希腊哲学家Empedocles认为的组成世界的四大元素之一(另外的分别是火(fire)、水(water)和土(earth))。塔罗牌上关于这一方面的牌象征着正确的决定和处理日常生活中的纠纷。

Personal traits: The basic Libran nature is diplomatic and charming. Libras have an idealistic and generally peace loving nature. They are easygoing and sociable, in general. On the other side of the scale, Librans are known to be indecisive and changeable, gullible and easily affected.
