昨天晚上读George Orwell的Down and Out in Paris and London，看到一句" I went out unwashed"。觉得"un+v.+ed"这种结构的词放在结尾用得很经典，突然想起了原来碰到过的同属一类的词，如: undefeated和unnoticed。用这两个词造句，可以是：

（1）For twenty years the champion  went undefeated.

（2）The government is failing the people. Many complaints went unnoticed.

 这比The champion was not defeated in 20 years和Many complaints were not noticed要精干很多。不知道对这类形容词有没有一个专门的名字。总之读来上口，干净利落。

同样的，表达“这个岛屿直到上世纪初才有人问津”用" The isle remained unvisited till early last century"要比"No one visited the isle till early last century"漂亮。表达“很多骚乱没有被媒体报道”用"Many riots went unreported"要比"Many riots were not reported by the media"精彩。

这些词有的一般和remain和go放在一起连用，置于他们后面。但不是每个这种结构的词都可以置于句尾(uncontrived, unexpected, unlearned就不可放在句尾)。能否至于句尾可靠语感来判断，不确定时一定得用字典，读读上面的例句。

我兴奋地把牛津英语字典上所有"un+v.+ed"的词都读了一遍，摘录以下常用的词汇，以飨词迷们：

使用这种词还要提防假朋友(false friends)，即字面上看起来是某个意思但其实不是的词。如undomesticated不是“没有经过家养的”之意，而是“不善于操持家务的”之意；unmapped不是“没有被计划的”之意，而是“没有被探索过的”之意。还是上面那句话，使用时只要不100%肯定就一定得请教字典。
