这几天刚读完《呼啸山庄》，总是为书中的人物，命运着迷，念念不忘。以至于这几天都不得解脱，很想和人交流沟通，可惜同学们都很忙，不便打扰，于是在网上寻找同样读完这篇小说的朋友，且看看他们的读后感，听听他们的想法。

   这么多读后感中，我竟发现一篇英文读后感写的最好，言真意切，而且对于主人公之间的爱颇有见地。于是想拿上来和朋友们一起分享，不过恕我驽钝，没有翻译全文，而是直接拿来主义了。但是这篇英文读后感并不复杂，高中水平的朋友应该都能读懂，所以还是全篇拿来，免得我那蹩脚的翻译打扰到大家的欣赏。

Is It True Love Between Heathcliff & Catherine？

In Wuthering Heights Heathcliff showed his passionate love for Catherine, but is it true love ？ I don’t think so. 

First, Heathcliff was a homeless orphan; Mr. Earshaw, the owner of Wuthering Heights, brought him up. Mr. Earshaw treated him well and he felt grateful for Mr. Earshaw. Catherine is Mr. Earshaw’s daughter, so Heathcliff turned the grateful for Mr. Earshaw to the love for Catherine. And, he had a desire to be a noble gentleman. So, get married with Catherine and to be rich is his best plan. If Catherine was substituted by some girl else and also showed her good feeling to him, I guess Heathcliff would love her no matter how she called. It’s only a desire to get married with a noble woman, if he did that, he would become a noble man and say goodbye to his miserable life experience. So, get together with Catherine is mot just for love, it is also for a noble status.

Second, when Heathcliff lost his Catherine, he felt great sorrow and angry, he thought it’s Linton who robbed the woman once belonged to him. As Heathcliff felt himself inferior, he had to gone without a try to get his girl. He thought Catherine and Linton are born to live together, but himself was just a homeless orphan with no status. When someone lose something important, he will feel it more important and if he already get something, he will feel the thing he get is not the thing he really want. So, after Heathcliff got the Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross Grange, he felt Catherine was the only one, or we may say, the only thing he cared about, and he could never get her, that feeling stroke him so that he felt there is no meaning for him to live in this world although he got high status and big fortune. That feeling differs from the feeling when he was young when people grow old; the desire to get status or fortune is not as strong as he was young. The great regret in his young age is the hardest wound and he can never cure it. Third, Heathcliff’s love for Catherine is just like possessing or occupying something, he want to own her as own some goods. It seems like that Heathcliff is a very selfish man. He never cares about the feeling of others, even Catherine’s. He came back for revenging himself on the two families. He didn’t care about Catherine’s life and broke her family cruelly, his return indirectly led to Catherine’s death; can we say it’s true love? It may be some kind of abnormal, Heathcliff’s abnormal psychology didn’t meet his love for Catherine. Love is giving each other happiness, not sadness; Love is make sure your lover leads a better life than you, not invade her life; Love is giving, not achieving; Love is the greatest thing in the world, not the most ugly thing; We believe in love, but we only believe in true love, the love between Heathcliff and Catherine is not true love, it’s much like a game, or just a sad story. Someone may say Catherine’s love for Heathcliff is true, but if a woman changed her will to marry a noble gentleman instead of her first lover, can we say that’s true love. Status and fortune are also more important to her. Love is pure, but her love for Heathcliff was not. 
The love in Wuthering Heights is a tragedy; it shows the dark side of love and human nature. It is a selfish love. But it occurs everywhere, people searching for high status and big fortune is not a bad thing, but we shouldn’t lose other things to get it, especially love. Love between friends, love between parents and children and love between lovers. Heathcliff and Catherine used to be a pair of happy lovers, Linton’s appearance changed their love into a secular game, it seems like Linton massed their love, but if there were true love exist, nothing can destroy it. Love is a kind of emotion; this strong emotion will never be destroyed by any kind of invading. 
　　  After Heathcliff and Catherine’s death people see the ghosts of them roam on the moor. It shows that people still think they love each other very much and people approve their love definitely. Of course, we live in a secular world, we were told to believe this and believe that. In this world, true love seldom exists, many girls want to marry a rich man, and some of them even sacrifice their youth to get money. Such behavior is disgust, they cannot even compare with Catherine, but we still believe there is true live, a love without status and money, a love differs from the love between Catherine and Heathcliff.
