指导思想与理论依据

小学英语新课标（2011版）指出，英语课程具有工具性和人文性。英语课程既要发展学生的综合语言运用能力，又要发展学生的思维，从而全面提升学生的综合人文素养。新课程理念要求语言教学应：强调学习过程，重视语言学习的实践性和应用性，突出学生在语境中接触、体验和理解真实语言。

    北师大王蔷教授在对英语学科核心素养进行解读时指出，在教学活动中，让学生拥有自主性，能够学会自主学习。在过程中认识和发展自我价值，在交流过程中让学生学会交往与相处，共同解决问题。

教学背景分析

Analysis of the the Teaching Material  

The story talks about the monkeys and the crocodile. According to the story,the monkeys want to eat the peaches on the trees across the river, but they can't swim.A crocodile wants to help them, yet he doesn't really want to help them.The clever Mother monkey refuses the crocodile.

Analysis of the Students:

Students of Grade 4 have learned English for 2 years. There are few new words in the story. Thus, it is not very difficult for students to understand the story and express their ideas.

Additionally, it is a good way to learn English by reading stories. Students are interested in the story and they will be active in class.

However, students may have some difficulties in presenting the story. Thus, it is necessary for the teacher to spend more time on guidance and encouragement .

Learn the new word crocodile.
