(1)protect...from/against...保护……使不受到……的损害或侵犯

protect...from/against...结构中，from/against后常跟sth.，有时against后可跟being done，用以强调动作的被动性。

一般宾语表示较大事情时，如天灾，外敌入侵等常用protect...against，表示较小事情时多用protect...from。

under the protection of 在……的保护下

afford/give/provide protection提供保护
