Step1: Pre-listening
1 Enjoy a song
T: Just now we listened to a song about family members. What forms of address of family members did you hear?
Ss:

T write the words down on the board as Ss say into two groups
Get Ss to say where we should write the words, on the left or on the right.
Elicit the phrases on the left, on the right
2 Talk about the picture
Present Tony’s family photo on the screen.
Get Ss to say Tony’s family members
T: Look at the screen. What can you see?
Ss: A photo of Tony’s family.
T: Who are they?
Ss: Tony’s grandparents…
Step 2: While-listening
1 listen and check
Get Ss to listen to a short conversation and check the people Tony mentions in the photo.
2 listen and find out
Present the following people on the screen
Tony’s
mum’s parents
Linda
Get Ss to listen to the long conversation and find out the people in the photo.
T: Can you read them?
Ss:…
T: Where are they in the photo? Now let’s listen and find them out
After listening to the conversation once or twice, get Ss to give the answer like:
Tony’s mum’s parents are on the left. This is Linda, and she is on the left of Tony…
3 listen and complete the conversation
Get Ss to listen to the conversation for another time and try to complete the conversation.
Get one student to come to the board and write down the sentence and words missing.
T: Look at the screen. There is something missing in the conversation. Can you complete the conversation? Now let’s listen again and fill in the blanks with the words or sentence missing. I’ll get one student to come to the blackboard to write them down.
Get one pair of Ss to read the conversation they complete.
4 listen and repeat
Get Ss to listen and read after the recording.
Get Ss to stand up if they can repeat the sentence they hear.
设计意图:因为平时我们的跟读都是老师播放音频,学生们坐在位置上看着书本上的听力原文进行跟读。这次我们采取学生不看书,然后就跟着音频读,能重复音频内容的同学站起来跟读,这打破了我们平时的常规做法,增加了课堂趣味性,让孩子们在有意思的活动中操练了本节课的目标语。

Today let me tell you something about Tony’s family.

This is a photo of his family.
These are his grandparents.
His dad’s parents are on the right and his mum’s parents are on the left.
These are Tony’s parents.
The woman next to Tony’s mum is Tony’s aunt Liz.
The man next to Liz is Tony’s uncle Paul.
The man next to Paul is Tony’s uncle too.
This is Tony, and he is in front of his mum.
The girl on the left of Tony is Linda, Tony’s sister.
These are Helen and Mike, Tony’s cousins.
