Good morning, dear judges. I am No. X , Now I’m going to talk about my teaching planning of section A from Unit 6 “’I’m watching TV” Book 2, Grade 7. My presentation consists of five parts. They are Teaching material analysis, Teaching guideline, Teaching aims and demands, Teaching methods, Teaching procedures. Now, let me get to part1.

 

Part 1 Teaching material analysis

The Unit 6 is around the topic “What people are doing and for the first time, the students are going to learn the Present Progressive Tense, What questions, Yes/No questions and short answers. This topic is related to our everyday activities. I’ll set up a relaxing atmosphere to arouse the students’ interest and improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills.

 

Part 2 Teaching guideline

As we all know people learn a language in order to communicate. As a language teacher, I realize that it’s important to develop the students’ communication competence . It seems to me there are three points to improve it. First, lay special emphasis on developing listening/speaking/reading/writing skills. Second, let the students understand the daily conversation better. Third, practice the spoken English more to improve the ability to communicate freely.

Part 3 Teaching aims and demands

1. knowledge objects

1). to study the topic about What people are doing 

2). to study the new words: watch TV, talk on the phone, use computer and so on

3). to study the new sentence structures: the Present Progressive Tense, What questions, Yes/No questions and short answers.

 

2.Ability objects

1).to develop the students’ abilities of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
2).to develop the students’ abilities of communication by learning the useful structures.

3.Moral objects
1). to enable the students to express themselves freely.

4.Teaching key points and difficulties

Enable the students to make conversations about what people are doing. Develop their communicative ability. The teaching difficulties is the new sentence structure the Present Progressive Tense: be doing something.

Part 4 Teaching methods

It’s generally known that the aims of learning English in the junior middle school is to improve the students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities. There are different teaching methods, such as five-step teaching method, audio-visual teaching method, task-based language teaching, In this lesson I’ll mainly use “Task-based” teaching method. That is” learning by doing” “doing things with the language”. I’ll give the students some tasks and arrange some activities: watching pictures, talking, role-play the conversation, pair/group work.

Part 5 Teaching  procedures.

It is made up of 5 steps. They are warming up, presentation, group work, practice, summary and homework. Now let’s go to the first step:

 

  Step1. warming up

The purpose is to arouse the students’ interest of study. At the beginning of the class, we will greet each other, then a free talk, and move to the next step .

 

  Step2. Presentation

 

      1) Let the students look at some pictures, then revise some new verb phases: watch TV, clean, read newspaper, talk on the phone…

      2) Tell the students the main topic” what are people doing” and lead in new sentence structure. First, I’ll pretend to read and ask the student “what am I doing” then give the answer Im reading .At the same time, Ill put this question/answer on the blackboard.

      3) Ask more what are people doing questions, then lead to the Present Progressive Tense and what questions, Yes/No questions and short answers.

   Step3. Group work

     Ask some students to pretend to do an activity and the rest of the class will guess what the activity is. The students should use the Present Progressive Tense and what questions, Yes/No questions and short answers.

   Step4. Practice

      1) Making a dialogue(role-play). After learning new words and sentences, I’ll give the students a task to make dialogues, as follows:

 

 

A:What are you doing?        

B:I am doing my homework.


         A: What is she doing?
         B:She is washing her clothes.

         A:Is he sleeping?
         B:Yes, he is.

2) Listening practice. Ask the students to finish 1b/2b, listen and write the correct answers.

Step5. Summary and homework

   1) Ask the students to sum up what they’ve learnt on this lesson

2).Ask the students to write 3 dialogues, including the Present Progressive Tense and what questions, Yes/No questions and short answers.,
