弗拉基米尔·霍洛维兹（Vladimir Horowitz，1903－1989），世界最负盛名的钢琴家之一，美籍俄罗斯人，是最后一位浪漫派钢琴大师。

1924年征服柏林、巴黎的观众，1928年赴美首演，一举成名。与指挥大师托斯卡尼尼的女儿结婚后，1940年开始定居美国。先后从舞台退隐与复出三次，造成巨大轰动。在1965年之后，大型独奏会只有两次卡内基音乐会，以及80年代举世闻名的重返莫斯科独奏会。上世纪60年代的霍洛维兹，虽然演出减少，但音乐趋于成熟，开始展现真正的大师风范。年轻时对技巧的追求，此时则转移到音乐内涵的经营。

专辑另包含学者Bernie Horowitz所撰写的解说，长期担任霍洛维兹专辑制作人Thomas Frost的访谈，以及完整的录音数据。还有一些从未出现在霍洛维兹已发行专辑中的曲目，如舒曼《狂欢节》，作品 9、肖邦《练习曲》，作品25-10、史克里亚宾为左手而写的《前奏曲》，作品9-1。
