这套8CD专辑是比尔·埃文斯爵士三重奏1980年8月31日-9月7日在旧金山“Keystone Korner”爵士俱乐部的现场演出录音，是比尔·埃文斯最后的现场录音，一周后他就离世了。现场录音中由Bill Evans演奏钢琴、Marc Johnson演奏贝斯、Joe Labarbera担任鼓手。

比尔·埃文斯演奏时是非常专注并独立于音乐世界中的，头颅深深地埋在钢琴里，眼睛像是快要贴到琴键上，连乐队的人都很少看一眼，更别说观众席。大多时候，甚至曲子名也不报，也很少起立跟观众谈话，就这么一首接一首，除了双手在动，其他部位似乎静止不动到演出结束，这就是比尔·埃文斯，接受采访也是一样，表情木纳，语气不急不慌的，少有笑容也少有怒气。

因此难免有人觉得他即自私又冷酷，一方面是他似乎只在意在钢琴世界里与自己对话，人们评论他永远是在极度残忍的剖析自己，不肯放过自己。另一方面是在三重奏中，钢琴所占地位太过强大，色彩太强烈，而贝斯与鼓相对弱化，基本上是和声伴奏的地位。这点在他音乐里可以很明显的感觉到，但这又何妨呢？他的钢琴足以表达所有与灵魂相关的事，人们只需要去感受。
