四、教学目标

   1. Knowledge aims: Duide the students to master the first part of the words and phrases related to the topic, including "lecture, qualification, recommend, comfort, substitute, acknowledge, as far as one is concerned, be occupied with, keep it up, fit in ... and etc. 

   2. Ability aims: Enable the students to learn about the information of travelling abroad, working or studying abroad by using different reading skills. Enable the students to summarize the advantages and the disadvantages of living or studying in a foreign country.

   3. Emotional aims: Help the students learn about the differences and difficulties of living and studying in a foreign country and learn how to deal with the problems that they would face when studying in a foreign country. 

五、教学重点及难点

1. Widen the vocabulary range. Develop the students’ reading skills namely skimming and scanning and so on. 

2. Guide the students to summarize the benefits and difficulties of living in a foreign country.  

六. 教学方法

1．演示法：通过相关的图片、PPT等网络多媒体辅助显示给学生看，便于学生对基础知识和背景知识的把握，并从旧知识中获得启迪，从而达到解决问题的目的。

2．任务驱动教学法：将所要学习的新知识隐含在学生的课堂活动之中，学生通过对所提的任务进行分析、讨论，并在老师的指导和帮助下找出解决问题的方法，最后通过任务的完成而实现对所学知识的意义建构。

3．多媒体辅助教学法：把有关国内外的名声风景的图片、文本、音视频等信息融合在课件中，可以增加课堂信息量，扩展学生的知识，活跃课堂气氛，激发学生学习兴趣，提高教学效率。

七、学习方法

根据《高中英语新课程标准》要求，结合我们班学生英语基础与能力较弱的实际，本课时我把每个教学环节所设计的问题和任务区分出高低不同的层次，由浅入深，循序渐进，使每个教学环节尽量符合多数学生的认知水平，力争大多数同学都能积极参与课堂活动。通过各种课堂活动，引导学生自主学习，培养学生 “识读”、“寻读”、“定位”、“推理归纳”等阅读方法；通过互动，讨论等活动，进行合作学习。

八、教学策略与设计 

1.本节课设计的基本理念是基于高中英语课程强调明确英语学习目的，发展学生语言表达，自主学习和合作学习的能力；形成有效的英语学习策略；培养学生的综合语言运用能力。因此，在设计此阅读课时重在培养学生的阅读策略、语感和学生在阅读中获取和处理信息的能力，尤其是对信息的归纳能力。 

2.在本节课中利用图片、提问、讨论等教学策略；利用多种阅读技能，如预测，快速阅读获取段落大意等，提高学生获取信息、处理信息、解决问题的能力。

九、教学过程设计         

Step 1: Words revision and check-up. Have the students quickly go through the words previewed the day before and checked them up by giving them a dictation of around 10 – 15 words. 

Step 2. Leading-in. Show some wonderful pictures of the famous sceneries or landscapes home or abroad for them to enjoy and identify, so as to arouse the students’ interest of travelling to those mentioned thereof, studying or working aboard. We may ask the questions as below:

T: What is this?

S: It is London Bridge Tower?

T:Where is it?

S:It is in Britain/England.

……

High-light the benefits of travelling abroad as the followings:

1. What benefits can you get best by travelling in a foreign country?

  Travelling helps us enjoy the sceneries aboard and widen our views.

2. What benefits can you get best by working or studying there?

  Working or studying abroad helps us learn more about other cultures and

  customs.

3. How difficult do you think it is to adjust to the customs of another country?

  It is a bit/very hard.

Step 3. Warming-up &Pre-reading              

After enjoying the nice pictures, the students may have high interest to study or work in foreign countries. Then we may propose some questions as below to motivate their wills.

Do you want to go abroad for to study? And which c university would you like to choose and why ? （After viewing the pictures, let them work in pairs to make their choices）

Step 4. Group work or Discussion and summary            

Based on what we have learnt so far, show them some pictures of studying abroad and then ask the students to discuss “ What are the advantages and disadvantages of studying abroad?”   (As the following PPT pictures)

Then finalize the correct information and ask them to fill in the form on the book.

Advantages:

①help us to be independent.  

②would be easier to learn a foreign language  

③easier to learn advanced knowledge and  technology

④learn a lot about local customs and  broaden our views

⑤ have many new experiences   

  Disadvantages or difficulties：  

① hard to communicate with local people

②will cost a lot of money

③feel lonely and miss home

④difficult to adjust to the local food

⑤must look after oneself…..  

通过这个问题的讨论，可以引导学生列举到他们 想去的国家和大学，以 及到国外学习的利弊 和将会遇到的困难，激 发了他们参与学习的 兴趣，并为下面的Reading做好热身准备。同时，还能培养学生合作学习能力。
