必修三  unit 1  Festival around the world

一、教材分析

    本单元以节日为话题,介绍古今中外节日的种类、由来、意义以及人们的活动和习俗,旨在通过本单元的学习使学生不但了解我国的节日,而且对外国的节日也有所了解,进而拓展社会文化背景、增加跨国文化知识;

本节课是一节阅读课 ,将Warming UpPre-readingReadingComprehending四个活动整和成一节阅读课。旨在通过热身部分的表格导入对节日的讨论,引导学生讨论并列举出五个我国节日的日期、庆祝内容和民俗。进而了解学生对节日的认识,以便为接下来的阅读作好铺垫,使学生能够很好的了解各种节日的由来及其存在的意义。

二、教学目标

1、知识技能:

(1)培养学生把握文章脉络和进行整体阅读的能力。

2)学会常用的一些描绘节日的词句和表达法。

3)培养和提高英语表达能力,并且能够运用所学知识解决实际问题。

2、过程与方法:

(1)skimming and scanning

(2)充分利用小组活动的机会提高英语运用的能力

3、情感态度:

1)通过了解各国典型节日的庆祝方式,帮助学生更好的了解节日的起源和寓意,激发学生热爱生活,热爱生命的情感。

2)通过讨论等小组活动培养协作精神。

3)通过课堂教学活动激发学生英语学习兴趣。

三、学习者特征分析

我所教的这两个班级的学生都比较活跃,上课课堂气氛较好,敢于积极的回答问题,并且能够与组员进行积极的讨论,但是基础不是很好,尤其一些男生英语基础部扎实。但是本单元的教学内容与生活实际相结合,学生比较熟悉这个主题,因此能引起他们的学习兴趣。

四、教学方法与手段

    在教学过程中运用情景法及交际法等教学手段,力求使课堂生动活剥,知识容量大,从而激发学生的学习兴趣。

五、教学重点

1)使学生学习更多的关于节日的历史及基本知识。

(2)培养学生学习使用不同的阅读技巧来阅读文章。

六、教学难点

如何使学生积极参与课堂,有效完成课堂学习任务。

七、教学过程

The Second Period  Reading

Step 1 Leading-in

Have a free talk with students. Ask them the following questions.

Do you have a good time in your winter holidays?

When did you feel most happy and excited? Why ?

Step 2 Warming up

1.      Let students brainstorm some Chinese festivals.

2.      let students read the following festivals and discuss.

3.      talk about some foreign festivals with students.

Step 4 Pre-reading

Let students discuss the following questions

1. What festivals or celebrations do you have in your city or town? What part of a festival do you like best- the activities, .the music, the sights, the food or the people who visit?

2. Prediction

Look at the pictures and title of the passage below. What kind of information you think will be introduced in the passage.

Step 5  while- reading

Skimming : skim the passage to find out how many types of festivals are mentioned..( whole class)

Scanning: finish the following questions. ( individual work)

Step 6 Post-reading

1. Use the information from the reading passage to answer the following question.

(1) What are festivals of the dead usually for?

(2) What makes autumn festivals happy events?

(3) What do people usually do at spring festivals?

(4) What is one important reason to have festivals and celebrations?

 2. Compare the festivals of the dead in Mexico, Japan and China. What things are similar? What things are different?

 Step  7 Group work

Ask students to work in groups and pick out three things that most festivals seems to have in common.

Step  8 Discussion

Present an e-mail and discuss how to give a reply?

1.      How do we Chinese celebrate spring festivals?

2.      What do you think of Christmas in china?

(T may give the key points on the blackboard. E.g. get tighter, set off fireworks, traditional holidays. Pay new year visit to relatives and friends, have fun with, lucky money in red paper, exchange gifts, christmas cards, etc.)

Step 9 Homework

Ask students to write a reply letter to the e-mail. (within 120 words)

 

 

七、教学评价

1.学生分动口、动手、动脑,主动收集、交流、加工和处理学习信息。

2. 学生能立思考,掌握学法,大胆实践,并能自评、自检和自改。

3. 小组合作积极有效。

八、课后反思

本课时过年后开学的第一课,以节日为话题,刚好学生此时还沉浸在春节的欢乐气氛中,在教学中,学生能够很好的加入老师的要求及活动中。本课的重点是阅读,旨在通过各国的节日及庆典来帮助学生更好的了解节日的起源以及寓意,能够激发学生热爱生活,热爱祖国的情感。从整体上看,本节课后进行的较为顺利,但是还有一些不足,在以后的教学中会加以改进。
