刘美君首张专辑在1986年底推出，那个时候正当Eurobeat 大行其道，故此Boat Music 曲式的“最后一夜” 一推出即大受欢近。 听说刘美君是因为一首描写风场电影的主题曲而为人认识，又说这是由她填词的作品，还有她已为人妇，但当看唱片封面照时，真令人不敢相信，而且结婚了才开始在乐坛发展，这不是唱片公司捧新人大忌吗？ 故此她出道时，有关她的传说也颇多。 刘美居出道时，同期也有许多新人，包括林忆莲﹑陈慧娴﹑张学友﹑达明一派﹑Radiers等等，他们为乐迷受落，也拥有一些大热歌曲﹑但要担起个人演唱会还未到时候，于是很流行4至5位合作开几场小型演唱会，因为每人只需演唱几首流行歌曲，对年轻的乐迷来说，既超值又够流行，故此很受欢迎，而且也可把这些新人迅速打入群众中，增加知名度。 

而她签约的唱片公司也是一个新Label，名为Current 现代唱片，幕后是HK Records，这间公司以出版中国古典音乐为主，其次还有西洋老歌合辑，故此刘美君是他们签的第一位歌星。 那个年代，不同的唱片公司都会制作出不同的声音，尤其是录音的音色最为明显，因为无论宝丽金﹑EMI﹑华纳及CBS/Sony 都有自己的录音室，故此录制出来的声音，都各不相同，所以像Current 这种独立新厂牌，在录音上难免单薄，也没有其他大厂般成熟，然而新公司还是有大胆的做法，他们的唱片交由德国印片，并且采用了DMM 直刻技术，故此碟纹跟其他公司有别，声音也特别传真。 其后这张专辑热潮已退，唱片公司还大胆推出CD ，那个时候CD是新兴的产品，粤语唱片才卖30元，但CD则要卖100 ，而且大公司如宝丽金还未够勇气出版本地歌星的个人专辑CD，大部份都是热门歌曲合辑或是歌星精选而已，但Current却够胆为这专辑出版CD Version ，附加两首Remix，以售价约$89元作推广。 

记得“最后一夜”流行了许久，之后力Plug “亚热带少年”及“Mind Made Up”，都是电台播放了很久的歌曲。 或者因为除了刘美君的歌曲受欢迎之外，唱片公司为她出版12” Remix Single 也把歌曲的流行寿命一再延长，当时我只是租唱片回家录在卡带中而已，但是因为这些12吋，令我多认识一两首B Side 歌。至于对唱片中其他歌曲有较深入认识，已是后期她离开Current，唱片公司为她出版一连串精选CD的时候了。

这张专辑的歌曲在当时来说也别有风格，“午夜情”写的是欢场女子的迎送生涯﹔“假装”则是写“情妇”，而“霓虹鸟” 则是对当时一班爱好玩乐没有明天的青少年﹔“最后一夜” 就直接谈及一夜情，是当时唱片公司不会触及，歌星也不会唱的题材，非常出位。 曲式除了Eurobeat﹑也有电子﹑Boss Nova及Jazz，非常多元化。 而创作方面有当红的姊弟班林敏怡﹑林敏聪﹔ 非常洋化的翁家齐，他当时与周功成组成“齐成乐队”，灌录的是原创英文专辑﹔还有被乐评人好评的陈永良，他擅于把华人音乐原素，加进西方编曲中，组成独特的粤语流行曲，他也是这张专辑的监制，而且刘美君虽是新人已一首半作品收录当中。 相隔多年重温这专辑辑，会发现10首歌曲都是佳作。
