这张专辑是陈百强1988年2月发行的，是他的第十三张粤语专辑，收录了10首歌曲。这是除1987年的《梦里人》外，陈百强在DMI时代最经典专辑。专辑中的歌曲《烟雨凄迷》不但在香港电台的“十大中文金曲”中占得一席之地以外，还令人惊喜地重夺失落五年的“十大劲歌金曲奖”。另外据说《烟雨凄迷》专辑封套上陈百强坐的那张椅子是他专门从加拿大买回来的，这从一个侧面说明陈百强的做事格外细致，精益求精。作曲者黎小田尤其欣赏丹尼，他觉得自己这首歌作曲平平，最多得70分，而陈百强用他独特的感触和方式将一首平常的歌曲唱成经典，提升了歌曲本身的价值。这首歌曲相当难把握，前奏过后，铺垫的主歌部分很是压抑，直到唱到神之过渡桥段，那几句“烟雨凄迷，伴我独行，昏暗街头……”的起承转合，将与众不同的唱腔提升了整首歌的境界，剩下的副歌部分，与起始部分强烈戏剧跌宕却哀而不伤，直至酣畅淋漓的宣泄，最终隐忍的收尾，香港歌坛真的是非他莫属，那份矜贵唱腔任谁也无法模仿了。

俏皮戏谑的快歌《神仙也移民》，被放在专辑首位打头阵。这首歌的原曲为超级舞曲《Love In The First Degree》，旋律编曲都照搬英国80年代著名迪斯科女子组合香蕉女郎（Bananarama）的这一名曲，但由卢永强填词，讲述了天庭的八仙因为贪恋人间的繁华，竟然决定“要变俗人不归天”，来影射当时因1997年临近香港市民惶惶不安心态，乍看突兀，又颇具奇趣。

陈百强一生情路不顺，当年8月，曾在兰桂坊醉酒，还表示多年的恋爱经验只换来痛苦，他对恋情感到很无奈，甚至赌气说有冲动做个花花公子。这种心声在这张专辑中他自己作曲的、向雪怀作词的《漫长盼望》表露得一览无遗，“张眼四望，望找到一个伴侣，当我闷时，陪伴这空虚身躯；越过身边千万人，没有半点感觉，谁是这人，谁是我所找知心”。
