《张敬轩：a.m/p.m》意喻一天24小时的时时刻刻，专辑中的每首歌曲表达的都是片断的情感，但10首歌曲合在一起，就表现了一天24小时内的种种情绪和情绪的变化。早晨醒来的爱情追忆、相聚的珍贵友情、感人肺腑的亲情告白、晚上的纯洁祈祷等等生活片断，都被演绎在音乐中。专辑一开始的《序曲》，就是张敬轩在自己家楼下录制的广州早晨的声音，其中摩托车的响声不断。而专辑的后面几首歌曲，表现的则是夜晚的迷离，比如《Envy》，还有张敬轩第一次尝试的舞曲《，，，》。为整张专辑收尾的，是梁咏琪特别为他量身定做的《昨夜，早晨》。

新专辑中，张敬轩参与了词曲、演唱、编曲、录音、混音的整个过程，并有多位顶尖音乐人参与，融合Pop、Jazz、Trip-Hop、Gospel Music等多种元素于一身，收录了《无能为力》、《Blessing》、《春天》、《DearU》、《公园前》等10首新创曲目，但只有《无能为力》等两首主打歌曲延续了他上张专辑的音乐风格，其余的歌曲都将改变听众对张敬轩的印象。
