马小倩出生于浙江一个越剧世家，11岁步入浙江戏曲学校学艺；曾获浙江省第二届"小百花"优秀小百花奖； 95年南下发展，96年曾获"粤、港、沪歌唱大赛"之"广东新星大赛"亚军，多次作为表演嘉宾参加全国电视台、电台举办的大型晚会，赈灾义演活动；现为广东话剧院演员。

演唱的原创歌曲：《落花的渡口》、《女人香》、《月亮圆》、《紫荆花开》、《少女进行曲》、《故乡的船歌》、《享受阳光》、《他乡的故事》等。

《女人香》不再是那种特别简单而冷静的“发烧” 编曲风格，而是包含了更多的现代音乐元素以及强烈的音乐性。在演唱上，马小倩也开始尝试一些新的突破，不再是那种简单的为追求漂亮音色而小心翼翼、干干凈凈的“发烧演唱”，而是为每一首歌曲倾注入更多的情感因素，激情跌宕中触动听者的感情细胞。自《女人香》开始，马小倩在乐届、在荧屏都人气急升，歌迷、影迷遍及国内外。马小倩的形象与她的声音截然不同，她的外表青春活泼、新潮，但她的声线竟然低沉自然，典雅文静、古典美丽。在中低音部分，她能很好地控制住嗓音的稳定，她的声底真是有点像蔡琴；而在高音部又能显出少女的娇媚，听起来很迷人。

主持的栏目：广州电视台《娱乐指南针》，广东电视台《出奇制胜》。

拍摄的电视剧：《外来媳妇本地郎》、《筱丹桂》、《丐王》、《珠三角型警》等。

参加话剧《生命》，音乐剧《羊城故事》等剧目演出。

2002年7月推出首张个人专辑《女人香》受到大众好评。

2002年10月推出第二张个人音乐专辑《花样的年华》。

11月应邀赴新加坡、马来西亚做专辑的首发式、签名会。在新举行的"歌友会"再次获得成功。年末推出了《花样的年华》"多煤休"版。

2003年六月推出第三张音乐专辑《享受阳光》
