環球唱片對這張製作精緻的廣東大碟寄以厚望，大碟曲風多元化，全面展現了張敬軒扎實的唱功，除了抒情主打《餘震》、《老了十歲》以及感人至深的《病況》等情歌之外，同名作品《笑忘書》由張敬軒親自作曲，是一首給遭遇挫折的年輕人的勵志歌曲，"笑忘書"原本是捷克作家米蘭昆德拉一本小說的名字，它用日記的方式紀錄生活中開心和不開心的事，而這首歌歌詞的用意是希望大家記得生活中開心的事物，忘記那些令人不愉快的事。“騷靈情歌”由美國黑人流行音樂形式Soul靈歌帶來靈感，是一首歡欣讚頌愛情的R&B情歌，細膩地由慢漸進，浪漫醉人；同樣柔情醉人的情歌還有清新Bossa Nova曲風的“第二次愛你”，特別降低聲線的輕柔演唱；輕快明朗帶有Jaz禁用词语unk（流行爵士）味道的《兩座位跑車》呈現出愈發收放自如的唱功，動感充滿且熱力四射；另外專輯中還收錄了翻唱張國榮的經典作品“無需要太多”，向哥哥致敬；和倫永亮合唱的“從何唱起”，兩代音樂人默契十足的合作擦出了互相激勵、溫情洋溢的火花；帶點英倫搖滾曲風的“不能不見”則演繹得乾脆利落，把失戀的苦情轉化成力量。此外專輯Bonus Track還收錄了上一張國語專輯中“偷故事的人”的粵語版“遇見神“，這首歌曾在香港的網站上創下高達六十萬的下載量。
