这张专辑是由旅美小提琴家何东在美国录制。何东祖籍顺德杏坛上地村，原名何超东。他父亲就是中国著名爱国音乐家、作曲家、小提琴家何安东。

何东潜心研究马思聪大师的小提琴音乐杰作，把马思聪的一组小提琴精品与世界小提琴演奏及作曲大师克莱斯勒的作品摆在一起，录制了首张个人独奏专辑《弦上之诗》，推出后好评如潮。

林耀基听了何东的《弦上之诗》，极为赞赏，特地撰文高度评价“声华行实”、“如逢故人之感”、“倍感亲切”。旅美华裔小提琴制作大师曹树垄还从他自己制作的众多名琴中，选出了仿古名琴“威尔顿勋爵”供何东演奏录音，令其如虎添翼。不少旅美侨胞听了这张CD后，感动得热泪盈眶。
