这张双CD专辑收录了马舒尔指挥莱比锡万特豪斯（布商大厦）管弦乐团，演奏贝多芬的全部《序曲》；内维尔·马里纳爵士指挥圣马丁室内乐团，演奏12首《小步舞曲》、12首《德国舞曲》、12首《行列舞曲》。马舒尔保持了德奥指挥学派那种高超的控制力和深遂的内涵，指挥莱比锡格万特豪斯（布商大厦）管弦乐团演奏的贝多芬序曲，庄正典雅、严谨深刻、中规中矩、深得贝多芬音乐的精髓。
马舒尔的演绎风格属“莱比锡学派”一脉，强调作品的古典风格，讲究结构上的均衡，不凸显戏剧性；听起来没有压力，想寻求刺激者会失望，但其气局之大、气场之强、气格之高，其整个演绎团队素质（技能与修养）之全面足以让你震憾，尤其是指挥与乐团之一体性极为罕见，你几乎感觉不到指挥的存在，似乐团在自动演奏，音乐没有丝毫机械感而象自心中流出。
