这张专辑是摇滚巨星保罗·麦卡特尼1983年10月发行的，是他的第四张个人录音室专辑。风格以流行、电子摇滚为主；其中，与迈克尔·杰克逊共同演唱的单曲《Say
Say Say》在美国公告牌百强单曲榜取得了连续六周冠军。
主题曲《Pipes of
Peace》叙述了1914年第一次世界大战发生的真实故事，正值圣诞节前夕的西方阵线，英国与德国两边各自在壕沟中对峙。由于两边停战有一段时间了，在圣诞节时两边都在装饰各自的阵地并且大唱圣诞歌曲，当炮火停止时甚至尝试进入无人区彼此交流，后来的元旦、以及1915年的新年时期，两边都很有默契的进入休战，甚至扩展到东部战线以及其他联军。而两边的老兵在2008年回到奇迹发生之地，并且立下纪念碑纪念这短暂的和平。
这是拥有一如既往的好旋律，能同时体现出保罗·麦卡特尼作为音乐人的社会责任感与商业嗅觉的一张专辑。2015年发行的豪华版本，增加了9首歌曲，其中有5首Demo、1首混音版本。
