这张专辑是著名俄罗斯钢琴大师普列特涅夫在DGG公司录制的首张肖邦钢琴独奏作品集。从《F小调幻想曲》Op.49到著名华尔兹和前奏曲，从《埃科塞斯舞曲》到《降A大调即兴曲》，涵盖了肖邦不同时期多种风格的钢琴作品。
普列特涅夫演奏的钢琴音色特别宽阔而有力，富于色彩变化，音节分明并有着惊人的透明度。
在《第三钢琴奏鸣曲》中，普列特涅夫的琴声似乎是在空气中飘动，自然而流畅，在那些耳语般轻柔的音符中他似乎在探索着什么。普列特涅夫弹奏起玛祖卡来，每个乐句都会有新的感觉。
这就是普列特涅夫，一个能把肖邦那些“辉煌”的华尔兹中的悲剧色彩挖掘出来的天才。
