张朴野，原名张有河。1960年出生山西大同军人家庭，自幼喜欢绘画，少年随父母转业回祖籍天津，在天津少年宫美术班接受正规绘画技能培训并随吕云所慕凌飞学习国画，后考入天津工艺美术学校，七九年应招特长兵入伍。八一年被部队保送山西大学艺术系进修。几十年内作品在国内外多次获奖并有多幅被收藏。

现为牛津大学艺术学院客座教授、中国爱国主义教育网书画院签约画家、国务院国礼指定画家、国家一级美术师、京津沪画院执行院长、中国教育电视台（水墨丹青）（名家讲堂）栏目组签约艺术家。
