blame sth on sb 把责任归咎于某人 

blame···for 和 blame···on都有“把······归咎于”的意思，其搭配关系和含义却有所不同。 

blame···for 中的blame后主要接受责备的人，for后主要接事物名词或动名词，表示受责备的原因。表示“因某事而受责备”或“把某事的责任归咎于某人”的意思。例如： 

He blamed me for my careless. 

他责备我疏忽大意。 

The manager blamed the office boy for losing the accident. 

经理责怪办公室的勤杂工丢了钥匙。 

The truck driver blamed the bus driver for the accident. 

火车司机吧事故责任归咎于公交车司机。

blame···on 中的blame后主要接事物名词（不能接动名词），on后既接事物名词，亦可接表示人的名词，on还可用on to替换。表示“把某事的责任归咎于（或推卸到，怪罪到）某人或某事身上”，往往暗含有责备得不合理、不公平的意味。例如： 

He blamed his failure on his teacher. 

他把自己的失败归咎于老师。 

You can't blame the rise in price on the government. 

你们不能把价格的上涨归罪于政府。 

It's not much use blaming our defeat on the weather. 

失败归咎于气候不好，这是没有什么用处的。 

The mistake was blamed on to the accountant. 

错误怪罪到会计身上了。 

【注】从下面两句，可以看出二者的区别： 

The driver blamed the cyclist for the accident. 

司机把事故的责任归咎于骑自行车的人。

The driver blamed the accident on to the cyclist. 

司机吧事故的责任推卸到骑自行车的人身上。
