A Lesson Plan for Unit 2 My family

Background Information:

I.          Time: April 16th

II.        Class: Class 4, Grade 3

III.      Lecturer: Liu Yinyin

IV.      Period: The first period

V.        Lesson duration: 45mins

 

Teaching Aims:

By the end of the lesson, students should be able to:

I.          Knowledge objective:

A.        learn vocabulary about the member of family;

B.        introduce the member of family in English-telling other people about their relationship.

II.        Ability objective:

A.        use interview strategies to find out information and take notes;

B.        present the interview results confidently to other students;

III.      Moral ability:

A.        cultivate student respect other and take care of seniority;

B.        know how to politely greet other.                   

Language contents and skills:

I.          Important Points:

A.        learn vocabulary: father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, man, woman, etc.

B.        learn some sentence: Who’s that man(woman)? He(She) is …

II.        Difficult  Points:

A.        rightly use the sentence to ask other people

B.        distinguish “he” and “she”, “man” and “woman”

 

Teaching aids:

flashcards, wordcards, video, photos

 

Teaching method

Stage1:Presentation

a)        New vocabulary

b)        New structure

Stage2:Practice

a)        Whole work:  speaking with teacher

b)        Pair-work: role-play the dialogue.

Stage3:Production

a)        Introduce their member of family

b)        Task: draw a picture about their family

c)        Use sentence to ask other students member of family

 

Teaching stages and procedures:

Step1warm up: a song: ABC song

Step2: Listen a song to learn the member of family

a)        Use picture to show the new words;

b)        Use the structure: What is he/ she? He/ She is …  ;

c)        Pair- work. Students ask some question to their partner;

Step3: A task: draw their father or mother

Step4: watch a video to finish moral teaching

 

End of lesson summary:

Summary the new words and grammar

 

Optional activities and assignments:

role play: choose six students to play father, mother, grandfather, grandmother, brother, I ,and a student play my

I.          friends ask me some question.

II.        introduction: let students introduce their members of family.

III.      magic: father and mother I love you=family

 

After lesson reflection:

The lesson went on well. Students were quite excited and motivated. But not enough time was given at the practice stage so some students, still have difficulty giving direction. More practice and checking are needed for these students in the next lesson.http://s15/mw690/00688VEuty71Bomq4JE6e&690
