Teaching Plan for Lesson 6,Unit 3 PEP Grade 4(B)

Teaching content: Read and write

 

Teaching content analysis

In this unit, 7 lessons can be included. This lesson is the sixth period. The main teaching content of this lesson is Read and write. The requirement of this lesson is reading and writing, so the teacher pays more attention to the guidance of reading and writing strategies.

 

Students analysis

Although the grade four students have been learning English for a year and a halftheir vocabularies are very limited. And they are active and competitive, so the teacher should arrange activities according to his/her students.

 

Teaching strategies

   In the process of teaching, the teacher adopts verbal communication teaching strategy and uses the way of body activities, a song and role-playing and so on to stimulate students’ learning enthusiasm, help them to comprehend conversation contents and improve their verbal communicative competence, reading and writing abilities.

Teaching objectives

1.      knowledge objective:

By the end of this lesson, students should be able to read the passage of Read and write , understand two new words “swim ,fly a kite” and be good at using the sentence “Is it …?” and “Yes, it is./No, it isn’t.”.

2.      ability objective:

Students should be able to write an English postcard to others.

3.      moral objective:

Students will pay more attention to cultivate their friendship with their parents or their friends or classmates.

I Warm-up3minutes

1.      Free talk.

T: How are you?

Ss: I’m fine. Thank you. And you?

T:  I’m fine too. Thank you. Can I ask you some questions? What’s the weather like today?

Ss: It’s… and ….

2.      Ask students to answer what we have learned last lesson according to the pictures.

3.      Golden eyes

The teacher shows some cards for students and students read words quickly.

Design ideaConsolidate words about weather and review some

sentences :‘‘How are you?” “What’s the weather like today?”  “It’s….”“Can I…?”Yes, you can./No, you can’t.

II Presentation8minutes

1.      Presentation of words

a.       Divide students into four groups.

b.      Introduce John’s father to students by using a picture and ask students to guess what will John’s father do in different weather.

c.       Design John’s father’s activities in rainy , snowy , windy ,cloudy and sunny day.

(rainy: play in the house ; snowy: make a snowman; windy: fly a kite; cloudy: read a book; sunny :swim.)

2.  Presentation of a sentence:

III . Practice10minutes

1.      Ask students to read the postcard quickly with the question‘‘ Where is John’s father?”.

2.      Ask students to read the passage slowly and answer three questions .

Questions:

a.What is the weather like in Sydney?

b.Is the water cold in Sydney?

c.Can John’s dad swim outside?

3.  Ask students to read the passage again and check answers together.

4.  Ask students to read the passage follow the tape and point out the difficulties. And the whole class solve the problem.

5.  Ask students to perceive the form of writing a postcard.

Design ideaLet students learn some reading strategies and cultivate the ability of learning by themselves.

IV .Production5minutes

1.       Make a competition: Design and write a postcard in your group and  choose a group leader to show your postcard..

2.       The whole class evaluates these four passages and chooses the best one.

      Design ideaTest students' mastery of the new knowledge.

V .Summary2minutes

1.      Review words and sentences on the blackboard and the form of the postcard.

Design idea: To summarize the content of this lesson, and make students have a sense of accomplishment, stimulate their interest in learning English.

VI .Moral teaching1minute

T: At the end of this lesson. I want to ask you one question: What’s function of a postcard?

Ss answer it in different answers.

T: A postcard can be used to contact someone and it’s also a good way to strengthen the friendship with our parents and our friends.

VII . Homework1minute

1.      Write the words on the blackboard 2 times and remember these words.

2.      Write a postcard to your parents or your friend.
